PREVALENCE OF CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME SYMPTOMS AMONG DENTISTS IN BENGHAZI CITY - LIBYA

Introduction: Many diseases may affect the nerves of a wrist, one them is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). In general population, frequency CTS prevalence ranged between 3% and 6%. Objectives: To demonstrate symptoms among dentists working in Benghazi-Libya. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted 2019. 205 14 different dental clinics across city were asked to fill questionnaire regarding CTS. Results: Out questionnaires distributed, only 132 (64.4 %) responded, 73 male (55.3%) 59 (44.7%) female. those participants, 81 (61.3 had or more 32 (24.2%) experienced hand wrist pain at night, whereas 42 (31.8%) complained during daytime. addition, 19 (14.4%) felt numbness 34 (25.8%) suffered from weakness work. Moreover, hand-tingling problems observed 23 (17.4%), difficulty with grasping using small objects reported (14.4%). Finally, handling manual devices surgical forceps detected 12 (9.1%) 37 (28%) respectively. Conclusion: This shows significant number Benghazi have Syndrome.
